Nature and movement act as muse and canvas for artist Joan Jonas. In a lifetime of travel, pursuing ecologies and artefacts to inspire her, Jonas always returns to her studio in the ever-changing landscape of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Artist and director Martine Syms is an avid collector of the minutiae that make up daily life. Through this, Syms creates film, photography and installations deconstructing identity, Blackness, and digital culture with wry observation.
For Tarek Atoui, artistry starts with the act of playing. Known for challenging perceptions of sound through large installations, the artist and composer uses moments of play and silence to tune into his environment through the senses.
